10.14.10 Brian Jovick

 
Bryan Jovick joins the Athletix Factory team as the Director of Sport Performance after spending 8 years in the NCAA Division I Collegiate ranks and most recently, this past year as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach for the Memphis Redbirds Baseball Team (Triple A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals). 
 
In his role with the St. Louis Cardinals, he was directly in charge of implementing both team and individual sport performance and injury prevention programs to minor league baseball players, as well as working with major league players in spring training and during rehab assignments in Memphis throughout the season. The Memphis Redbirds won their division and reached the Pacific Coast League Championship Series in the post-season.
 
Prior to his time with the St. Louis Cardinals, Jovick served as the Assistant Director of Strength & Conditioning at Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN, where he was directly in charge of softball, volleyball, Men’s Basketball, Men’s & Women’s Track, Men’s & Women’s Golf, Men’s & Women’s Tennis, and assisted the Football program from 2005-2009. During his time at Tennessee State, Jovick earned 5 championship rings and helped send 5 Football players to the NFL and 1 sprinter to the Olympic Trials.
 
In 2007, he was selected to assist the Vanderbilt University strength & conditioning program under Head Coach, John Sisk, who oversaw the football and baseball strength programs and had been the strength coach for baseball at Clemson prior to Vanderbilt.
 
From 2004-2005, Jovick served as a Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at South Dakota State University where he was directly in charge of baseball, Men’s & Women’s Track, and Wrestling, as well as assisting Football, Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Softball, Soccer, and Tennis. His Baseball & Wrestling teams both won the Division I Independent Tournament in 2005.
 
During his undergraduate career at Truman State University, Jovick performed 2 summer internships. He spent 2003 with the Ohio University Strength program, working with Football, Basketball, and Volleyball, and spent 2002 with the Georgia Tech Strength program, working primarily with Football, but was also able to assist the Baseball program immediately before they went to the College World Series.
 
Jovick has experience working in recreation management as the Fitness Center Supervisor at the Vanderbilt University Campus Recreation Center. He has also worked in the fitness industry at Gold’s Gym and Frappier Acceleration, where he worked with individuals working towards both aesthetic and performance goals. He trained the winner of the Ms. South Dakota State Pageant and 2-time runner-up for the Ms. South Dakota Pageant, Karie Palansch during his graduate school career.
 
Jovick is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)through the NSCA as well as a being Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the CSCCa. He owns an Educational Specialist degree in Administration & Supervision from Tennessee State, a Master’s degree in Sport Science from South Dakota State, and earned his Bachelor’s degree from Truman State in Exercise Science.
 
Jovick’s competitive history includes being a heavyweight wrestler at Truman State from 1999-2004, a practice partner for upper weights at South Dakota State in 2005, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu submission wrestler from 2006-2007, and a heavyweight powerlifter for the past 6 years. He still competes in 1-2 powerlifting meets each year.
 
Jovick is a native of South St. Louis City and attended CBC High School. He has a 3-year-old daughter, Chloe, who lives in Springfield, MO.
